The design for the Addition to Existing Home - Brownsville, OR was to include a new master bedroom and walk-in closet. The design matched the style of the existing home, and complimented the existing architecture. The triple sliding glass doors provide an excellent indoor / outdoor connection, which provides a welcome respite from busy daily life. Materials used include - custom cut rough-sawn cedar board and batten siding, aluminum clad wood windows, and a custom gutter and downspout profile. The ceiling of the bedroom was uniquely finished with standing seam metal roofing and custom lighting accents.
The Historical Building Proposal for Brownsville, OR was designed as a mixed use office building on the first floor with a loft residence above on the second floor. The building was designed of stained, split face concrete masonry with powder coated steel accents, and aluminum storefront windows. The building was designed to appropriately fit into the historic downtown core of Brownsville, OR.
The deck replacement project in Brownsville constructed a new covered deck to replace an existing one. The clear corrugated roof panels allow the deck to be used during the rainy months, while still letting in lots of light for the adjacent kitchen windows. The railings were constructed using stainless steel cable railing to give a modern look, and not obstruct the scenic views of the backyard.
The straw bale cabin project located in the Anaconda area of Montana, with views of Georgetown lake was constructed using straw bale walls and a wood post and beam structural system. The bales are finished using hydraulic lime plaster finish. The thick straw bale walls provide super-insulated walls well above code, and provide beautiful interior window openings with curved sides. The cabin also uses hydronic radiant floor heating, and a potable water harvesting system, with cisterns in the basement. The cabin provides a welcome retreat from busy life for the owner an guests.
This design built a wood framed shop, with custom sized roll up garage doors and a special attic truss with true dormers at the roof. The shop allows the owner to store everything needed for their vehicle and misc storage needs. The design also provides for a covered parking area for loading and unloading of vehicles and protection from the elements. The covered parking area uses timber trusses and 2x6 t&g wood for a cabin style look. The steel plates for the trusses were custom cut using a CNC plasma cutter and black powder coated.
This Shop & Garage with Carport built in Brownsville, OR was completed in 2022. The exterior of the shop is clad with stained plywood and custom cut cedar battens, for a traditional board and batten look, but with modern elements, such as the custom tinted glass garage doors. The roof has four functional dormers that bring daylight into the large attic storage space, which utilizes special attic trusses, and provides much storage area for misc. items. The corport features site-built glu-lam timber trusses with custom fabricated hardware. The ceiling of the carport is stained 2x6 t&g fir, which really gives the carport a standout look.
This home addition was completed in 2021 and was built to provide a master bedroom retreat from the existing home. The addition included aluminum clad wood windows, and triple sliding glass doors. Due to the large expanses of glass, the design required a steel moment frame to be built into the structure of the walls to provide the required shear resistance.
