Congruence Architecture is a small architecture firm, located in Brownsville, OR.


Paul L. Marx, NCARB

Paul is orginally from Spokane in Washington State where he lived in the Spokane Valley.  Paul gained his first degree from Spokane Community College in Carpentry and Cabinetry in 1998.  He worked for various cabinet shops as a door assembler, hardware installer, and cabinetmaker and custom furniture builder.  After taking a job as a cabinet maker for an industrial designer in Martinez, CA, he was asked to learn AutoCAD in order to help produce a CAD block library of furniture designs.  Paul took night classes in order to learn the desired skills.  This night class led to a interest in a drafting degree, and Paul gained a further degree in architectural drafting from North Idaho College in 2003.  A decision was made while in school to seek further education at the University of Idaho in architecture.  After transferring to the university and four further years of study, Paul gained a bachelors and Masters degree in architecture. 

Paul began his architectural career in Arizona, working for several architectural firms, as well as the department of Veterans Affairs in Prescott, AZ, where he worked in the facilities department.  Paul gained valuable experience working for architects, and the VA as a job captain and project manager.   Begining in 2012 Paul began taking the required architecture exams, passed all 7 exams, and was granted an architectural license in Arizona in 2014.  Paul started a small business in 2012 called Caryatid Design, where he produced CAD construction documents on contract for various architects.  In 2015 Paul launched Congruence Architecture in the small community of Brownsville, OR.

Paul's architectural interests are varied and include sustainable design, historical architecture,  and urban planning.

Paul is an licensed architect in the State of Oregon, and Arizona.
